The name ‘Hope is Health’ emphasizes that for individuals struggling with mental health challenges, hope is foundational. Hope Is Health also reclaims health for individuals who have been diagnosed with mental illness but who may never ‘recover’.
This site was launched in order to expand the practice of service user education. Our principal, David Mordecai, has lived with a serious psychiatric diagnosis since 1986. He has a combination of training, facilitation, consulting, leadership and small business management experience. Soon after launching this site in late 2019, the COVID pandemic started. The development of this project is on hold for the foreseeable future. David continues his involvement in mental health advocacy but is more focused on several other initiatives including a very gradual process of building a community of practice to support individuals working from a place of lived experience, which is foundational to doing service user education work ethically.
